By the time I started talking to Sarah at Alexander Paul kitchens I had already been working with three other kitchen design companies and I thought I was happy with one of their designs. But I had a niggle or doubt that something wasn’t 100% right.

When Sarah walked into my kitchen she was like a breath of fresh air. She is a very warm personality, with a great balance between friendliness and professionalism all of which make her super easy to work with. But what made her stand out from the other designers I had met was her ability to really listen and understand what I wanted from my kitchen. When I gave her my original brief I felt very confident that she really understood my vision for how I wanted to use my kitchen and what was really important to me. In fact, she helped me to understand what was really important to me by focussing my attention on the key points.

Having listened to and understood my brief Sarah then came up with a design which really made the most of my space, maximising the size of the island and achieving all my other “must haves”. In addition she made one major change which no previous designer had thought of and I hadn’t requested. She moved the fridge freezer to the other side of the room and it changed everything in terms of the look and the feeling of space. She had addressed the “niggle” that I felt was wrong but had not been able to pinpoint.

Then came the detail and this is another area where I was really impressed with Sarah. I had spent years dreaming of my new kitchen and I wanted to get it exactly right. Sarah was so patient and good natured that I felt comfortable asking for endless redesigns and tweaks.

I had been dreading the stress of the installation but it was actually fun and enjoyable. Sarah had a very good relationship with Alex the fitter and between them it all went really smoothly. I liked the fact that we made some last minute changes without having to stick rigidly to the design. Small hiccups were quickly resolved by Sarah.

The end result is a kitchen where I would not change one element of the design/layout… which I think is a tribute to Sarah’s patience and tenacity.

I am very happy to nominate Sarah for this award. She is a really lovely person who has great listening skills and is a pleasure to work with. Design wise she has imaginative ideas whilst also having a very clear understanding of what is needed to get the best out of a space. I am so pleased that I had Sarah as my designer.
