THE PROJECT
A Bespoke Sage Green Shaker Kitchen in Beer
This impressive kitchen was designed for a home in Beer, near Seaton, creating a light and welcoming space that combines traditional Shaker styling with a clean, contemporary feel.
Designed by Sarah Hale, Senior Designer at AP Interiors, the kitchen was carefully planned around the generous proportions of the room. Bespoke painted timber cabinetry, a substantial central island and considered storage create a kitchen that is both practical for everyday use and a beautiful space for cooking, dining and entertaining.
The soft sage green finish works particularly well with the natural oak details, pale quartz surfaces and warm aged-brass accents, while the large glazed doors and rooflights allow natural light to flood through the room.
THE DESIGN
At the heart of the design is the large central island, providing generous preparation space, extensive drawer storage and a sociable seating area.
The bespoke Shaker cabinetry gives the kitchen its timeless character, while the slim proportions of the doors and understated sage green finish keep the overall appearance fresh and contemporary.
A circular natural oak breakfast table has been incorporated into the end of the island, creating a softer transition between the working kitchen and seating area. Natural oak is repeated elsewhere within the design, adding warmth and contrast to the painted cabinetry.

THE DETAILS
Beautiful Materials and Finishing Details
The pale Unistone Siberia quartz worktops provide a subtle contrast against the sage green cabinetry and help reflect the natural light throughout the room.
Warm metallic details were chosen to complement the colour palette, including Monmouth American Bronze knobs and a patinated brass Quooker tap. Together, these smaller details give the kitchen a refined, coordinated finish without overpowering the simplicity of the Shaker design.
Integrated lighting beneath the cabinetry and oak shelving adds another layer to the scheme, providing practical task lighting as well as creating a warmer atmosphere in the evening.
Premium Appliances for
Everyday Cooking
A comprehensive selection of integrated Siemens appliances was incorporated into the design, maintaining the clean lines of the cabinetry while providing a high level of cooking functionality.
The appliance arrangement includes ovens, a compact oven, warming drawer, 90cm flex induction hob and integrated dishwashers. Refrigeration is discreetly integrated into the cabinetry, allowing the furniture and overall architecture of the room to remain the main visual focus.
The result is a highly functional kitchen where appliances, storage and preparation areas have all been considered as part of one complete design.

Sarah worked closely with the homeowners to develop a layout that made full use of this impressive space while balancing storage, cooking, seating and entertaining.
From the proportions of the central island to the combination of painted cabinetry, natural oak and brass detailing, each element was considered as part of the complete room rather than in isolation.

The kitchen was installed by Cottam & Northcott Builders Ltd, working alongside AP Interiors to bring Sarah's design to life.
Their attention to detail and quality of workmanship were excellent throughout the project, particularly important on a kitchen of this scale where the cabinetry, island, worktops, appliances and finishing details all need to come together precisely.
