This Axminster kitchen was designed around a beautiful Kitchen Stori Aldana slim-frame Shaker door, finished in Light Teal.
The soft painted finish gives the room a fresh and welcoming appearance while retaining the traditional character of a Shaker kitchen. The design also incorporates the client's existing dark blue range cooker, which creates a striking contrast against the Light Teal cabinetry and becomes a natural focal point within the room.
Careful planning allowed cabinetry to be positioned around the room's existing windows and architectural features while providing generous storage and practical preparation areas.
A Traditional Shaker Kitchen with a Contemporary Colour
Design Brief

The brief was to create a characterful new kitchen that made better use of the existing room while complementing the style of the property. The design needed to work around the existing dark blue range cooker, windows and architectural features, while providing improved storage, preparation space and integrated appliances. A painted Shaker kitchen was chosen to combine traditional character with a fresh, contemporary colour palette.
THE FINISHED KITCHEN

The completed kitchen brings together Light Teal Aldana Shaker cabinetry, elegant curved units and carefully planned storage to create a practical and welcoming space. The dark blue range cooker provides a striking focal point, while the bespoke wall cabinet with curved open shelving adds an individual furniture-style detail. The finished room closely follows Sarah Hale's original design and makes excellent use of the available space.

Sarah Hale designed this Axminster kitchen around the character and proportions of the existing room, creating a practical layout while retaining the traditional range cooker as a key feature. The Light Teal Aldana cabinetry, curved units and bespoke wall cabinet were carefully combined to create a kitchen individually tailored to the property.
Design Highlights
Curved Cabinetry
One of the strongest details in this kitchen is the use of curved cabinetry. Rather than finishing runs with conventional square-ended units, curved doors and panels soften the layout and help the furniture flow naturally around the room.

Bespoke Open Shelving
The wall-mounted cabinet was designed with open curved shelves at either end, creating a distinctive furniture-style feature while providing useful space for decorative items.

Traditional Range Cooker
The client's dark blue range cooker provides a strong focal point and contrasts beautifully with the Light Teal painted cabinetry. The surrounding units were carefully planned to integrate the cooker into the overall kitchen design.

Practical Storage
Tall cabinetry provides valuable larder and appliance storage without overwhelming the room, while drawer units and carefully planned base cabinets keep everyday kitchen items readily accessible.

This Axminster kitchen was professionally installed by Lee Mallen Carpentry & Joinery, one of the experienced independent installers AP Interiors regularly works alongside.
Careful installation was particularly important on this project, with the cabinetry designed around the existing range cooker, windows and architectural features of the room. The curved units and feature wall cabinet also required precise fitting to ensure the finished kitchen followed the original design.
From Design to Installation

From Initial Design to the Finished Kitchen
Detailed plans and visualisations were produced before installation, allowing the layout, cabinetry and individual design features to be considered carefully before the kitchen was ordered.
The finished installation closely follows the original design, from the curved cabinetry and tall storage to the distinctive open-shelf wall cabinet.
NEFF Integrated Extraction
A discreet NEFF N50 integrated canopy extractor was incorporated into the kitchen design, allowing effective extraction without introducing a large visible hood that would detract from the traditional Shaker cabinetry.
